Windows can't find a driver for Brother HL on the net. Why not install the driver? Sorry if I didnt explain. Pc can print to printer if moved and connected directly to printr. Thanks for the advice, but "Network Name could not be found". If I look in Explorer and click on Network and 'computerB' it is there!! Trying to connect to the printer form this view, it still looks for drivers. Is this perhaps because I am running Windows yuk, sorry 8, and the pc where the printer is connected is Vista?
Networking between Windows versions is nutty. But before you research that I'm finding folk with firewalls in the router and that is blocking such things.
Tell me about firewalls. How could the firewall be stopping the connection of the printer? I believe there is only the Microsoft firewall installed. Perhaps one from Avast free anti virus??? What can I do to solve it if it is the firewall? I have a printer that if I install the driver I have to make a choice during install for network or wired USB.
You may have to install the printer driver again to get the network connection. This doesn't mean you don't have to deal with printer sharing or if the printer connects to a network the troubles with that! And Brother technical help have not got back to me in a week after I asked for help!!! UiYAIkXIgvk enter the exact model name and number of your device to get the latest and updated driver.
Hopefully this shall resolve your problem. I have tried that already. But perhaps I am missing the boat here. On which pc must I reload the drivers? On the one that has the printer connected? You are posting a reply to: Track this discussion and email me when there are updates.

Problems connecting to a network printer (Brother HL-2140)
Batmann77 Nov 6, , 1: Hi guys, I've checked online for the past 2 hours or so, and haven't found a solution for my problem, so here we go Our network printer has been working fine up until recently. Now, for some reason, all the other computers connected to the network couldn't print to the printer. They all could see the printer, but they all saw it as offline. I ended up removing the printer off the other computers, and trying to re instill it, but now they can't even find it. I've seen so many articles saying I should assign a static IP to my printer, but they all say I need to know my printer's IP.
